Arizona’s controversial illegal immigration law has been a hot-button issue for awhile now and it was needed to deal with people who came into the U.S. illegally. But denying birth certificates to U.S.-born of illegal immigrant parents?
That’s right, Republican state representatives from Arizona John Kavanagh and Russell Pearce, who drafted bill SB 1070, wants to sink “anchor babies,” the delightful name given to U.S.-born kids of illegal immigrants, reports

Politico article.
And as you can imagine, it also implies that these kids help illegal moms and dads stay in America, or Arizona if you want a specific location.
This proposed Arizona bill is planned to be introduced this fall and its supporters want to stop giving birth certificates to American kids whose parents are in the U.S. illegally.
And that’s where I have to jump off this crazy train. I’ve always been in full support
WBMB columnof SB 1070. Arizona should do more to lock up illegal immigrants. I have no problem with that nor do I have a problem of denying amnesty to the millions who came to the U.S. illegally.
But going against the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution that grants citizenship to anyone born in America? That should leave a bad taste in anyone’s mouth.
It’s not fair to punish these American children for their parents’ crimes, but surely there is a better way of handling this problem.
While no one wants to separate children from their parents, it might be best to give illegal immigrants an option: Either they are shipped back to their home countries with their children, or their children stay in America, in foster care, while they can go back to their home country. They are more than welcome to come back to America, as long as they do it the legal way.
Does it sound cold? Sure, but the fact is these parents created this problem when they broke into the U.S. And many of them are bringing crime with them.
My solution may not be the best one, but at least it’s not unconstitutional.
