It turns out that Democrats can be just as thuggish as Republicans. Who knew?
U.S. Democratic Congressman Bob Etheridge is in hot water after he assaulted an unknown, alleged college student on a Washington, D.C., street last week. And get this, there’s video of it.
Ok, don’t picture any Rocky moments here. The young male, allegedly claiming to be a college student, was trying to take a picture of Etheridge as he was walking down a street, asking if he “fully supports the Obama agenda.” That's when the fun begins.
That’s when the 68-year-old North Carolina congressman decided to get touchy, feely with the 20-something male. He grabbed the camera out of his hands and held his wrist, repeatedly asking him who he was, reported FOX News

CBS News Etheridge story.
The guy just said he was a student and the cameraman said they were there for some unknown project. At this point, Etheridge grabs the student by the back of the neck and pulls him towards himself and puts an arm around his shoulder in an aggressive way. Etheridge let’s go of him and seemingly walks.
Of course, the video is on YouTube and it was posted by DCCameraGuy
DCCameraGuy YouTube on Friday, June 11. The incident takes place as Etheridge was at a fundraiser that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi headlined.
And of course Etheridge later apologized, but the damage was already done as Republicans smelled blood in the water.
Bob Etheridge has lost it. His conduct is unbecoming of a member of Congress. It’s bad enough that he’s joined Obama’s assault on North Carolina jobs, but his physical assault on a college student goes beyond the pale,” National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Jon Thompson said in a statement to the press.
So who is wrong? Everyone. First, if you’re going to play citizen journalist and sneak attack a member of Congress, you’re going to have to be up front and honest. That means “we’re students here for a project” isn’t going to cut it. You need to be up front and honest and say who you are. It adds credibility.
However, Etheridge screwed up big time. All he had to say that he doesn’t do interviews with unknown reporters who ask loaded questions and start taking pictures of him like the paparazzi covering the latest celebrity screw-up. And he could then say he’ll be more than happy to do an interview by appointment and once he found out who they were.
But instead of doing that, Etheridge has eternally embedded himself on YouTube. D’oh!
