Nice to see that The Huffington Post, the liberal’s answer to The Drudge Report, is all about doing honest, objective journalism. NOT!
While no longer able to ignore the global-warming alarmist in the room, The Huffington Post “reported”
Huffington Post story (click here for the screen capture photo of the story) how police have dropped their investigation into allegations that the former vice president tried to pretend he was Bill Clinton and allegedly groped a massage therapist back in 2006.
What’s wrong with The Huffington Post’s “story”? Besides the fact that there is no by-line to it — and this is something that many online news Web sites do nowadays and it should be a huge no-no, as we should all know who’s writing the article — not once did the article get a quote from the alleged victim and massage therapist, Molly Hagerty.
Sure, many Web sites now are either too lazy or don’t have the time to actually report the news and just grab what other news Web sites have actually reported. However, since this is The Huffington Post, it doesn’t seem that hard to reach out to Hagerty and see if she wanted to say something on her behalf. You know, that way the reader doesn’t have a one-sided story to go on.
Also, nowhere in the article did The Huffington Post mention that Gore’s blog is usually featured on the Web site. Can anyone say “conflict of interest?” Sure you can.
OK, here’s the skinny: Even though no one should be getting their news from biased Web sites like the liberal Huffington Post or the right-wing BigGovernment.com, but if these places insist on reporting the news like the media, then they need to start acting like the media and presenting both sides of the story and have some honest journalism standards.
So, maybe someone should give the “news” staff at The Huffington Post some journalism 101 text books on news writing and news ethics.
Or is that too much to ask for?
