    Steele’s Talking His
    Way Out Of A Job

Do you know how hard it is to talk when you put your foot in your mouth? Just ask Michael Steele.

The Republican National Committee chairman made such an outrageous claim during a fundraiser yesterday that the GOP and Democrats have agreed on one thing: Steele should resign.

It all started when Steele said at a Connecticut fundraiser that the war in Afghanistan is President Obama’s fault, reported The Associated Press
    Associated Press story
    .

“This was a war of Obama’s choosing. This is not something the United States has actively prosecuted or wanted to engage in.” Steele said.

Now, just for those who may suffer from Political Alzheimer’s like Steele, it was actually under former President George W. Bush when the U.S. went into Afghanistan to capture Osama bin Laden and topple the Taliban, among other things.

And to add insult to injury, he said that anyone who has ever engaged in a land war in Afghanistan has lost. Way to inspire our troops Steele! That’s exactly what they want to hear when they’re fighting suicide terrorists.

Well, Steele’s getting an ear full. Conservative editor of The Weekly Standard
    The Weekly Standard Web site
Bill Kristol and Erick Erickson, the editor of the popular conservative Web site RedState.com

, have both called for Steele to resign.

Democrats, while pretending to be upset, must be acting as if Christmas came early this year. After all, the mid-term elections this year are bloodier than usual with Congress up for grabs. The last thing the Republicans need is their grand poobah sabotaging their chances.

Now some call Steele’s comments a “political gaffe.” Let’s call it what it is: Stupid.

Maybe it is time for Steele to walk away if he’s going to keep making bone-headed statements like this.

Or at the very least, put a muzzle on him.

    "Everyone who has fought..."

Not only does it hardly inspire our troops TO, but it actually is incorrect. Genghis Khan DID win in Afghanistan.

Well it looks like another over active imagination went to work here ... but the point about the troops losing every land war is interesting and should be reviewed outside of "patriotic media blitzing." That burns my bacon
